Easy to follow twisting subplots enhance this mystery/thriller. A group of comical characters including a bungling small-town sheriff lend humor to this horrific novel. Conversations lack depth and believability. Main character is hard to root for. Bugged by details like the sheriff (county level position) being a town official. So many thay they distracted from the story. It was hard to make much connection with the characters. Just overall I felt this was very poorly written.
